Accessibility
Built to work for everyone.
Our commitment to WCAG 2.2 AA, low-end phones and slow connections.
Our commitment
Mboka Yetu Jijini aims to conform to WCAG 2.2 level AA. The site is designed mobile-first for the phones most Kenyans use, with large touch targets, high-contrast colours and no reliance on colour alone.
What we've done
- Semantic headings, landmarks and a skip-to-content link on every page.
- Keyboard-operable menus, dialogs and forms with visible focus rings.
- Screen-reader labels on icons, star ratings and status badges.
- Respect for reduced-motion preferences.
- Lightweight pages that stay usable on 3G and older Android browsers.
- Kiswahili and Sheng understood in search; a full Kiswahili interface is in progress.
Known limitations
Some provider-uploaded portfolio images may lack descriptive captions. The WhatsApp assistant is text-first; voice notes are not yet supported.
